Abstract

Purpose: To determine typical scintigraphic signs of ventilationperfusion disorders for bronchial asthma. Material and methods: 20 patients with the verified diagnosis of bronchial asthma at the stage of remission and 10 healthy non-smoking volunteers took part in the study. All the examined subjects underwent ventilation-perfusion lung scintigraphy.

Results: Bronchial asthma patients have positive bilateral increase of the apical-basal gradient of perfusion, reduction of the apical-basal gradient of ventilation and acceleration of alveolar-capillary permeability during the 30th minute of the study as compared to the analogues rates of healthy individuals.

Conclusion: The data received testify to the fact that the scintigraphic assessment of alveolar-capillary permeability of lungs as well as the evaluation of apical-basal gradients of ventilation and perfusion can be used as additional criteria to diagnose bronchial asthma at early stages.
